"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."

Things I learned in March

Things I learned in March:

1.  I have a fascination with the meaning of names and how people live out those meanings, intentionally or unintentionally.

2.  Prayer really is hard work, it takes time and effort. I'm reading a really good book on prayer, The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson.

3.  How to know when a cow is done milking: she should still have some milk in her udder, between 1-2 cups total.  If less than 1 cup, she was over milked. If more than 2 cups, then she did not have the right prep timing or stimulation to have a full letdown of her milk.

4.  I never realized that Isaac was still alive when Jacob returned from living with his uncle Laban (Genesis 35: 27-29).

5.   Don't tell anyone, but I learned to cut my own hair.  I don't think I did too bad either!
(Not the greatest pic, I did some more trimming after taking this)

6.   Nothing in my life has happened by mistake.  God has a purpose for all of it, whether I see it now or not.

More March images

Another beautiful March day (yesterday)!  This time instead of bare feet, I had bare legs. I had shorts on today!  And no, I did not take a picture, it was not worth a picture.

My kittens were enjoying the sunny afternoon along with Dutchess.

Edmund.

Peter.

Lucy, aka Squirt.

Ed likes to cuddle. Pete loves to play.

It's staying light so much later right now, it's very easy to lose track of time!

So beautiful!

More March love – snowy birthday

March is also the month of my birthday!!  It was last week, the day it snowed a lot!

I don't remember it ever snowing that much on my birthday before (in all my years at least 😉).  I never thought about the fact that I was born in winter.  When I think of March, I think of spring coming and warmer weather and crocuses popping their heads above the frozen ground!  And daffodils and tulips and Easter, although most of that is usually happening around the end of March.

But until around the 20th of March it's actually winter, I think too many people want to cut winter short and start in February, but that's not the way God made it (at least here in PA).  This year, probably for the first time in a long time, I have been purposefully looking for the beauty and wonderment that winter brings!

Here are some of the pics that I took on my birthday!

Banana pancakes and the Bible.

My little snow buddy!

It was a wonderful day, snow and all!

I love March

For a number of reasons.

-Today is one of those reasons!  The promise of spring!

-Bare feet outside for the first time this year!

-I saw a fly today.  I've never been happy to see a fly before 😄

-How I love the feeling of the sun's warmth on my face!

More reasons coming tomorrow!
