"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."

Dutchess' pool

We've had this kiddie pool in our garage ever since Josiah and I got married (it's probably been there since Josiah and his sisters were little).  My parents dog, Jack, has his very own kiddie pool that he loves so much, so we decided to give this pool to Dutchess since it is not currently in use by any one else.

She loves water, at least, she loves to play in mud puddles.  We would love to take her swimming in a real pond at some point, but we haven't gotten around to that yet.

I did a dry run with her, where I sat on the edge and had her get in with me, it worked and she was fine.  Then we went and got the water and started dumping it in.  She got nervous.  She doesn't like water, of any sort, that falls from above.

So of course, I went and stood in the water and called for her and she immediately jumps in.  I didn't realize that my swimming would be a requirement for her to swim.  But I think she loved it and as she gets used to it more, she will be braver and get in by herself some time.

At least I like water too!

And the water was dirty when she got out because of her morning expedition in a mud puddle!  Hopefully she will never have to seek out a mud puddle to play in since she has her very own pool.

"I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
let us exalt his name together.

"I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

"In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Fear the Lord, you his godly people,
for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing."
Psalm 34: 1-10

Yesterday as I went for a cool-down walk after my run, I walked past the meadow.  The heifers saw me and came running over, curious.  They all crowded up against the fence, pushing to get as close to me as possible without getting close enough to be touched.  They are just so cute!  I love my cows!

I've been so busy lately that I kind of forgot I even had a blog.  Oops.  Well this is all I can do for now, hopefully I'll be able to write more often this month!
